Dr Trilby Langton
Clinical Psychologist
Tilly Langton is a Clinical Psychologist and has worked for NHS services with children, adolescents and their families for over 15 years. She currently works in a large NHS Children’s Hospital specialising in paediatric health psychology.
Tilly provides specialist input into IPC’s Child and Adolescent, Gender, EMDR and Physical Health Clinics. She works with issues including low mood, stress, anxiety, adversity and trauma. Tilly provides family and parenting interventions using systemic, attachment and mentalisation-based approaches to think about family functioning and ways of responding to challenges and conflict.
Tilly has extensive experience working with young people experiencing distress in relation to their gender. Tilly provides holistic support with the aim of improving well-being, enabling children to thrive and offers young people, parents and carers a safe environment in which to explore and make sense of complex feelings. Her approach aims to build on young people and families strengths and resources to enhance coping. Her work draws on several therapeutic approaches including systemic, psychodynamic and trauma-informed theory, narrative practice and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).
Tilly has been a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of York contributing to to the programme of research for the independent Cass review of gender identity services for children and young people.
