Dr Kirsten Stewart Knight

Dr Stewart-Knight is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with nearly ten years of qualified experience in a number of leading London hospitals. She is the psychological lead for the NHS Severe and Difficult Asthma service at Guy’s Hospital and has worked with IPC since 2018.  

Kirsten contributes to IPC’s specialist Child & Adolescent, Physical Health, Adult Mental Health and Gender clinics. She has developed expertise in helping children, young people and adults who are managing difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, grief, trauma and discrimination.  She is interested in understanding the significant impact that stressful experiences can have on both emotional and physical wellbeing and relationships. Kirsten has worked with children and adults with conditions such as CFS/ME, long covid, chronic pain, cancer and complex symptoms that may be difficult to diagnose. She is skilled in adapting her approach to peoples context, neuro-diversity and priorities.  

Kirsten supports individuals, couples and families to develop and extend their confidence in coping with the challenges bringing them to psychology and has particular expertise in helping people to improve relationships and communication. She has received specialist training in a range of therapeutic frameworks including ACT (acceptance & commitment therapy), CFT (compassion-focused therapy), couples therapy and Systemic Family Therapy, and draws on these to provide individualised and integrated interventions to meet the needs of each person. At times she works closely with multidisciplinary professionals to provide integrated interventions and consultation when relevant.
