Dr India Kennedy, BSc (Hons), DClinPsych. CPsychol

 

Dr India Kennedy is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist who has worked within the NHS for over 10 years, supporting young people and adults experiencing a range of mental health difficulties that are significantly impacting on their lives.

India believes passionately in building a nurturing and safe space in order to help her clients understand the emotional distress that has led them to seek help and to facilitate moving towards a more fulfilled life. India views her therapeutic work with clients as integrative, meaning that she draws on different therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), systemic therapy, narrative therapy and mindfulness techniques in order to tailor the approaches she uses depending on each clients individual needs.

 

Physical Health

India has experience of working in a variety of physical health settings such as at The Royal Brompton and The Evelina Children’s Hospital at St Thomas’. She has supported clients with conditions such as cystic fibrosis, diabetes and children with a variety of critical and non-critical physical health problems. She is committed to helping people with the management of acute and chronic pain and physical health diagnoses.

Emotional and Mental Health

India is experienced at working with people whose mental health difficulties, such as anxiety, stress, trauma and depression has had a significant impact on their well being, personal relationships, work/school life and outlook on the future. She uses evidence-based interventions to help people in these often overwhelming periods of their lives to improve their mental health and work towards their desired goals.

India also has a special interest in working within the field of perinatal and postnatal mental health, supporting parents to be or new parents with this transition. This may include helping parents with existing mental health problems or new challenges this big life event has brought.

India is a member of the British Psychological Society and registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professionals Council. `
