Dr Chad Shepherd
Clinical Psychologist
Dr Shepherd is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over fifteen years of qualified experience, previously in an NHS IAPT service (Improving Access to Psychological Therapy) and in private practice with IPC for the past decade.
Chad provides specialist input into IPC’s Child and Adolescent, Adult Mental Health, EMDR and Physical Health clinics. He works with adolescents, families, adults and/or couples, presenting with a wide variety of emotional and/or physical difficulties, including trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD and PTSD. He also has extensive expertise in providing interventions to help people manage complex physical conditions. He has a special interest in Rheumatological problems and works as part of the Clinical Health Psychology Team within The London Hypermobility Unit. He also has extensive expertise in pain and fatigue management, motivation, rehabilitation and relapse prevention.
Chad has received specialist training in a range of therapeutic frameworks including ACT (acceptance & commitment therapy), CFT (compassion-focused therapy), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) and draws on these in an integrative way when working with clients.
As well as direct patient work, Chad offers supervision, training and consultations to fellow professionals around the psychological management of health difficulties in the treatment of long-term health conditions, chronic pain and medically unexplained symptoms. He has presented many talks and workshops about managing long-term health conditions and trauma, both nationally and internationally.
