
Lauren McCabe B.Psych (Hons) MPsych (Ed & Dev)
Lauren McCabe trained as a Developmental and Educational Psychologist in Australia and is registered as an Educational Psychologist in the UK and is currently the Deputy Director of the Educational Mental Health Programme (EMHP) at the Anna Freud Centre/University College London. She has worked in private practice for over 11 years and is passionate about working with infants, children and adolescents facing social, emotional, developmental and/or behavioural difficulties.
Working with Children and Young People
Over the years, Lauren has worked with many children and young people struggling with a range of challenges. She previously worked on the postgraduate in Supervision and Child Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) programme as well as in a range of clinical settings, including hospitals, child protection services, and both primary and secondary schools.
Lauren conducted research into childhood trauma at The University of Melbourne and taught undergraduate programme at Australian Catholic University, Melbourne. She also helped run a clinical programme for children diagnosed with selective mutism at the Child Mind Institute in New York and continues to deliver workshops on selective mutism across the UK and Australia.
Support to Parents and Networks
Much of Lauren’s work involves working alongside adults, helping them to support young people in their care. When needed, she is used to liaising with professional networks to ensure a consistent understanding and approach is delivered.
Mental Health
Through her many years of experience Lauren has developed a warm and approachable style. She is experienced in working with neuro-diversity and modifying interventions to meet the needs of each individual child and family. She is trained in a range of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.

Lauren is registered with Health Care and Practitioner Council (HCPC), and Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).
